JAZZ REVIEW THINGS TO THINK ABOUT (ONLY IF YOU WANT TO)

1. notate the title of the song, the players, if you have heard this song before, and if we are playing it currently in class.
2. discuss the instrumentation and if anything sticks out.  for example: is it a jazz ensemble performing in a hall, on a show, overseas.  is the trumpet player leading the group?  the piano player? is the trumpet player being featured as a vocalist and instrumentalist?
3. after listening to the entire song do you immediately want to listen to it again – why or why not.
4. how would you characterize the entire performance: aggressive, smooth, appealing, polished, loose, legendary…support your answer.  what specifically?
5. be sure to actually do it!!!!!!?  ANDY BLAKE?  ADJUA?  anyone?
6. this is extra credit:  it may be hard to ask a director why something is going on (especially considering the fact there are certain times when it is wise to not bring an issue up in front of a large group), however, if something is up let me know.  if you want to play different charts talk to me.  if you want to look through our jazz library talk to me.  if you want to suggest charts look them up and e-mail me links.  if you want to clean the band room or organize anything let me know.  if you want me to find all the PDF real books and jamey aebersold charts i can find let me know.  overall these are big picture things that we can certainly make happen but we just have to take it one day at a time.
